The narrative is supposed to hold a diverse representation of AirAsia crew from across the globe to highlight that with the carrier, anyone and everyone will be able to reach the distance required metaphorically and geographically to reach iconic status as the global ambassadors have. All they need is the dream, the drive and the determination.
We knew from the beginning that the visual effects and CGI work has to be approached from the creative design stand-point, which is a like a dream come true for all of us.
The challenge of crafting the designs is to tackle head-on the very nature of the organic creative process, where the visuals need to sit comfortably in balanced space of surrealism versus literalism.
With a strong set of style frame designs and draft 3D animation, we are able to furnish the Director tools to pre-visualise how the final film would potentially look like. We then gradually worked in the details, layer-by-layer with 3D modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting. Dynamics simulation played a significant role. Particles simulation were used to create light trails, smoke, liquid and fire for most of the scenes.
Finally, the compositing artists work meticulously to blend all the live-action, CG and visual effects elements together so that it all come together seamlessly to create the final film.
