Following the global boycott, Mekdi’s relationship with the Malay community was strained. Though locally owned, the brand became an unintended symbol of global issues, leading to emotional distance and loss of trust. Mekdi saw the need to reconnect through empathy and presence. Hari Raya, a season of forgiveness and togetherness, offered the right moment to show sincerity through culturally grounded gestures, not just words.
Solution:
For the first time ever, Mekdi Malaysia opened its doors like never before: we turned Syawal into a moment of real connection. We invited Malaysians back through nationwide Eid Open Houses and gave away FREE Sampul Raya Mekdi filled with gift vouchers, symbolizing generosity and goodwill. Instead of corporate copy, we used cheeky pantun; playful, poetic rhymes that spoke the language of the people. This uniquely Malaysian touch made the gesture feel warm, familiar, and sincere. We rebuilt trust not through words, but through culture, laughter, and shared joy.
