Astro Shaw was about to launch its new movie called The Experts, inspired by a true story, an action-packed crime genre, the likes of Ocean's Eleven and Money Heist under the PG-12 film category. Calpis had just distributed its new carbonated drink variant named Calpis Soda. The brief was to ride on the promotional launch of The Experts to announce this new product into the market and to highlight the soda as being the cool element. This collaboration required the film's scenes to be used in the TV commercial as the leading media for the combined promotional campaign. However, the challenge was that the film production was already completed, and its intense and action-filled vibe clashed with Calpis playful bubbly energy. The task was to merge these two contrasting worlds without losing their individual tones.
Solution:
Combining the two different elements each from the film and the brand, we created a whole new story for a TV commercial called Operasi Fizz (The Fizz Operation) that doesn't compromise the essence of the film and the brand's tonality. Scenes from the film were carefully selected to stitch with several new shots to create a fresh narrative. The TV commercial became the main media for the combined promotional campaign that benefited both sides '“ The Experts film & Calpis Soda.
