Brief:
Ramadan bazaars are one of the major contributors to the spike in food waste during the fasting season. And Malaysians are desensitised to the long-standing problem year on year. What can we create to shock Malaysians out of their familiarity?
Solution:
To make them look, we created the Bazir Ramadan collection: a bold, trashy avant-garde statement against food waste, echoing how local fashion houses launch new baju Raya lines each year.
The trash suits are made entirely from discarded food collected from Ramadan bazaars, and vacuum sealed in sous vide bags before being stitched together to form a puffer-jacket-like outfit, covering the models from head to toe.
Discarded food used is as diverse as whatever’s sold in bazaars, ranging from gravied rice dishes to local sweets and cakes.
The suits then debuted with a ‘trashwalk’ at the Pantai Dalam Ramadan Bazaar, where three models strutted in the custom trash suits down the red carpet.
Carrying on the fashion streak, we also created a special lookbook using the food waste data collected from Ramadan bazaars in 2025 to show how much food is being wasted based on categories. The lookbook featured colour-coded items that correspond directly to the colours of each food was
