Red All Year ang pow pack, Chinese New Year 2026 premium
Client:
Confetti, The Centre of Celebration
Brief:
In Malaysia, ang pows are not just for Chinese New Year. They are given at weddings, birthdays, baby full moons, housewarmings and business openings. Yet almost every packet is printed with fixed New Year phrases like 恭喜发财 ("Wishing you prosperity"). Meanwhile, the way Malaysian Chinese actually congratulate each other has moved on. It is louder, cheekier and full of Cantonese and Hokkien slang. The ang pow never caught up. Confetti, the celebration centre for every occasion, wanted a premium that spoke the way people really celebrate.
Solution:
We designed Red All Year, the smallest venue Confetti has ever built. A keepsake box of eight ang pows in two reds, bright and deep, finished with a gold foil confetti burst that echoes the Confetti mark. Inside, five sticker sheets carry 145 circular characters drawn from 25 auspicious words, in varied sizes and two embossed finishes: shimmering bronze and shimmering gold. Recipients arrange the characters to dress each ang pow for any occasion. Weddings, birthdays, housewarmings, openings, and New Year too. A folded greeting card tells the story. 1,000 packs were produced and given away, putting 8,000 ang pows and 145,000 blessings into circulation.
