Brief:
Astro Shaw was about to launch its new movie called The Experts, inspired by a true story, an action-packed crime genre, the likes of Ocean's Eleven and Money Heist under the PG-12 film category. Calpis, had just distributed its new variant named Calpis Soda, a pre-diluted carbonated drink called Calpis Soda. The brief was to ride on the promotional launch of The Experts to announce this new product into the market and to equate soda with the cool factor. This collaboration required the film's scenes to be used in the TV commercial as the leading media for the combined promotional campaign. The challenge was that the film production was already done, its genre of intense and action-filled vibe clashed with Calpis playful bubbly energy. The task was to merge these two contrasting worlds without losing their individual tones.
Solution:
We created Operasi Fizz (The Fizz Operation), a TVC highlighting the sweet and sour moments between the five siblings that formed The Experts. By blending intense visuals from the movie (the sour moments) and combining it with fresh scenes (the sweet moments), we created a completely new story that retained the action-packed energy of The Experts and fun and bubbly tone of Calpis. It became the main launch TVC for Calpis Soda in Malaysia.
