Brief:

Autism in Malaysia is often spoken about by those who do not live it. Campaign raises awareness, but few create authorship. TM, a tech-co built on connection, wanted to change that. After collaborating with the neurodivergent band ZIMI'J on Helo Malaysia - a song written and performed by autistic musicians, we faced a question: how do you turn a song about belonging into something that could be seen and felt, not just heard? Every note of Helo Malaysia was painstakingly handwritten by autistic musician Joshua Daniel Johnson, whose process itself was a work of art — patient, meticulous, deeply human. That became the spark: if the song was created by their hands, shouldn’t the print be, too? The chance was not just to design an ad, but to extend authorship, letting the neurodivergent community leave their mark on the very medium that would represent them.

Solution:

We turned Joshua’s handwritten score into the only playable print ad, a page that was both music and message. Every note on the sheet was real, readable, and could be performed by anyone. Around it, autistic children and artists from the Early Autism Project added their own responses: drawings, textures, and patterns that respond to the rhythm. The result was a dialogue between sound and sight, and, structure and spontaneity. In print, two worlds that rarely meet coexisted without correction. Published on Merdeka Day, among pages of patriotic headlines, this single page invited Malaysians to read, see, and even play the perspective of those often unheard.
