Brief:
Toyota Gazoo Racing needed to earn credibility from real motorsport fans in Malaysia. Not with gimmicks. Not with CGI. But with the truth of racing: skill, speed and consequence. Motorsport fans value authenticity. They can immediately recognise what is real and what is staged. To earn credibility, the experience must be genuine, not simulated.
Solution:
A combination of FPV drones, chase cars, rig-mounted cameras, and handheld setups was used to cover every angle. Camera movements were choreographed with the drivers’ lines to maintain clarity, speed perception, and proximity. Lighting and exposure were tuned for both high-speed action and the natural environment to preserve realism. Practical effects such as smoke, dust, and tyre marks were captured live to avoid any post-production manipulation.
