Brief:

Touch ‘n Go’s RFID works more often than it fails, but its reputation says otherwise. Drivers remember the one time a toll gate failed in front of them. A single tag failing to scan, a driver forced to reverse, a backup at the boom gate: these rare, frustrating moments are filmed, posted, and joked about. But a smooth journey is a non-event that nobody talks about.Over time this eroded Malaysians’ confidence in RFID and that held back adoption. The challenge was to change the perception of RFID by proving it works when used correctly. That meant making everyday smooth journeys visible instead of just telling people, educating drivers on the small things that make a big difference, like tag placement and a topped-up balance, and turning renewed confidence into RFID tag sales on the Touch ‘n Go Shop.

Solution:

Malaysians don’t need another explanation of what RFID is, they need proof that it works on their journey when used right. Terus Je was a real, raw and honest demonstration of RFID in action. We partnered with Arwind Kumar, a key opinion leader known for his brutally honest personality, so audiences would trust his verdict. He put the technology to the test on a three-day road trip series, showing how Touch ‘n Go’s RFID makes journeys smoother when used the right way. An education series then walked drivers through correct usage to reduce the simple errors behind most failures. The road trip series earned 50.4 million online views and the education series 13 million. A total of 32,593 RFID tags were sold, and sales on Touch ‘n Go Shop increased by 156% during the campaign period.
