Malaysia Airlines
Brief:
Every September, MATTA Fair gets Malaysians planning their next holiday. But in 2026, rising fuel costs made flying feel more expensive, while life's wishlists like weddings, gadgets, property and shopping continued competing for the same wallets.
Malaysia Airlines needed to make travel a priority again. The challenge was to reach Malaysians who weren't actively looking for flights, show them that the money they were already prepared to spend could take them somewhere instead, and turn that consideration into bookings.
Solution:
Instead of waiting for Malaysians to search for flights, we intercepted them while they had their "wallets open", ready to considering everything else. Using Taboola's contextual targeting, Malaysia Airlines placed destination-specific ads alongside content about big purchases. Wedding planning was rerouted to Langkawi. Watch shopping to London. Technology browsing to Shanghai. Each ad used the context of what Malaysians were considering buying to introduce somewhere they could fly instead. By turning shopping content into unexpected departure points, Flightjacking redirected purchase consideration towards Malaysia Airlines' MATTA offers.
