Brief:
You can’t have Raya without a P. Ramlee marathon. Rewatching his classics and reciting their iconic dialogue has become a Ramadan-Raya ritual for Malaysians, as Raya campaigns chase the latest trends.
Solution:
Instead of adding to the noise, Marrybrown, a proudly homegrown brand, looked to a classic Malaysians already love. We reimagined the iconic Ali Baba Bujang Lapok as Ali Baba Bujang Rangop, turning the cave’s treasure into a golden platter of MB Nasi Berempah. Where Nostalgia meets a flavourful twist, Ali Baba Bujang Rangop reimagines a Malaysian classic with Marrybrown Nasi Berempah at the heart of the story. A tribute to the classics, the film captures the wit and humour of P. Ramlee’s iconic films, bringing their familiar charm into a fresh context. In doing so, we set out to turn an ad into a new Malaysian classic.
