In the fast-moving world of F&B, McChicken — our simple, classic burger — began fading into the background, overshadowed by flashier, limited-time contenders. But McChicken has always stood for something different: simplicity that never goes out of style, and a taste many Malaysians grew up on. To reignite love for this heritage icon, we needed more than just ads. We needed an experience. One that didn’t just tell Malaysians about nostalgia but let them step into it. The challenge was to transform an everyday restaurant visit into an immersive journey. One that reminded loyal fans why they fell in love with McChicken in the first place, while giving a new generation a chance to discover it for themselves. Our goal: to make Malaysians feel something familiar yet fresh, turning a beloved classic into an emotional, sensory experience worth reliving all over again.
Solution:
We transformed McDonald’s original Titiwangsa Drive-Thru into a fully Klasik experience, re-creating the look, feel, and charm of the era McChicken was first launched. Vintage signage, old-school seating, and retro uniforms greeted guests from the moment they stepped in, turning the space into an Instagrammable time capsule. To complete the nostalgia, McChicken made its comeback at RM5.95. A throwback price that instantly resonated with Malaysians and got fans reminiscing the good old days. What started as a simple relaunch became a full-on cultural experience, connecting generations through taste, memory, and design. The Klasik Restaurant became a nationwide sensation: 150K+ fans travelled back to the 80s, generating 1.36M in organic buzz and over 40M media impressions. McChicken fans tripled, growing from 99K to 269K, and the space even became a pre-wedding photoshoot destination, proving that nostalgia never goes out of style.
